Basketball Game Preview: Valley Pirates vs. St. Johns Redskins

Valley is 2-8 against St. Johns since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Valley Pirates will square off against the St. Johns Redskins at 6:00 p.m. Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

On Saturday, Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Hopi, taking the game 61-52.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Johns, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging a 64-8 win over Greyhills Academy. The Redskins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 23 points or more this season.

St. Johns pushed their record up to 22-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.4 points per game. As for Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

Valley came up short against St. Johns in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 49-36. Can Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
