Baseball Recap: North Tahoe Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact North Tahoe can now relate to. They came up short against the Yerington Lions on Saturday, falling 15-8. Unfortunately, that's the sixth time they've come up short against the Lions this season, with their most recent defeat being a 15-7 loss on Saturday.

Noah Glickman and Peter Rusek did some serious damage despite the final result: Glickman went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Rusek went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Oscar Whelan, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for North Tahoe and nudges their season record down to 18-8. As for Yerington, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-4 record this season.

North Tahoe and Yerington are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Lakers will face off against Lake Mead Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something North Tahoe surely won't give up without a fight. As for Yerington, they will challenge Needles at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
