Basketball Recap: Bryce Kankam's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Innovation Academy over St. Bernard's Central Catholic

Innovation Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to the St. Bernard's Central Catholic Bernardians on the road by a 62-48 margin. The The Red Tailed Hawk were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bernardians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Several The Red Tailed Hawk players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryce Kankam, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 18 rebounds. Kankam is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Elijah Vega was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Innovation Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for St. Bernard's Central Catholic, they moved to 2-6 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Innovation Academy will look to defend their home court on Monday against Notre Dame Cristo Rey at 5:00 p.m. As for St. Bernard's Central Catholic, they will head out to face off against Worcester Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
