La Vega had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 54.9 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They breezed by the Connally Cadets to the tune of 57-30. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Pirates had established a 22 point advantage.

La Vega got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was CeMaria Kelly out in front who posted 13 points along with six steals and five assists. Kelly has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cra?Lajah Bradley, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 13 points and five steals.

La Vega smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive games.

La Vega has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 26-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Connally, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-24.

La Vega will be playing in front of their home fans against Lorena at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (La Vega has won 15 straight at home dating back to last season, while Lorena won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Connally, they will venture away from home to take on Gatesville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
