Baseball Game Preview: Plattsmouth Blue Devils vs. Nebraska City Pioneers

The Plattsmouth Blue Devils will challenge the Nebraska City Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Plattsmouth fell victim to Platteview and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 1-0. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Nebraska City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Platte Valley. That's two games in a row now that the Pioneers have lost by just one run.

Greyson Flash was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

Plattsmouth's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Nebraska City, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Plattsmouth's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Blue Devils have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Nebraska City, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Plattsmouth continue to outrun the ball?
