Baseball Recap: St. Peter's Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

St. Peter waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Monsignor Farrell Lions. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 last Wednesday.

Joe Bello spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Eddie Rethorn was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Marco Aruta, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

St. Peter's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Monsignor Farrell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.
