Basketball Game Preview: Cross Trojans vs. Palmetto Scholars Academy Phoenix

The Cross Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Palmetto Scholars Academy Phoenix at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cross knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Palmetto Scholars Academy likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Cross was able to grind out a solid win over Charleston Math & Science, taking the game 62-52.

Meanwhile, Palmetto Scholars Academy took a blow against Bethune-Bowman on Friday, falling 67-11. While losing is never fun, the Phoenix can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Mohawks are ranked 74th).

Cross' victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Palmetto Scholars Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.

Everything came up roses for Cross against Palmetto Scholars Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 71-38 win. Does Cross have another victory up their sleeve, or will Palmetto Scholars Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
