Football Game Preview: Iroquois Redhawks vs. Lackawanna Steelers

The Iroquois Redhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Lackawanna Steelers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Iroquois took their matchup with ease, bagging a 48-14 victory over Dunkirk. The Redhawks haven't had any issues with the Marauders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Iroquois' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Justus Kleitz, who threw for 315 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 33 yards. The Redhawks' leading receiver Nicholas Skutnik was Kleitz's top target yet again, picking up 233 receiving yards and three scores.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Iroquois' defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Tyler Urmson with two.

Meanwhile, Lackawanna got themselves on the board against Albion last Friday, but Albion never followed suit. They blew past the Purple Eagles 38-0. Given the Steelers' advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Purple Eagles are ranked 545th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Iroquois now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lackawanna, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
