Softball Recap: Marion Has No Trouble Against Peru

Marion's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Peru Tigers as they made off with an 11-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Giants considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Aly Earnest made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Earnest was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Marion got a massive performance out of Jasmine Weaver, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Weaver has hit this season. Jakira Jones was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Marion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Marion now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Peru, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Marion will venture away from home to challenge Norwell at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Giants' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season. As for Peru, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lewis Cass at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The game will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
