Basketball Recap: Valdosta Takes a Loss

Valdosta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by the Lowndes Vikings 69-39. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 71-42 two weeks ago.

Despite the defeat, Valdosta had strong showings from Lauren Bloom, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, and Summer Eberhart, who posted nine points. Bloom has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times she's played.

It was another big night for Aryana Thomas, who had 21 points in addition to seven assists and six steals for Lowndes. Another player making a difference was Kaci Demps, who earned 20 points and four steals.

Valdosta's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Lowndes, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Valdosta wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-39 defeat against Camden County on the 31st. As for Lowndes, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-49 win against Colquitt County on the 31st.
