Softball Recap: Emerald Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Emerald entered their tilt with Calhoun Falls Charter on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Blue Flashes a 12-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 25-15 on Monday.

The team relied heavily on KJ Scott, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Emma Cline was another key player, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Emerald was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Emerald's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Calhoun Falls Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emerald will venture away from home to face off against Laurens at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.35 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Calhoun Falls Charter, they will head out to square off against Thornwell at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
