Preview: Lake Norman Charter Knights vs. East Rowan Mustangs
Lake Norman Charter is 4-0 against East Rowan since December of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Lake Norman Charter Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the East Rowan Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Lake Norman Charter has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 270 points over their last four matches.
Lake Norman Charter pushed their score all the way to 71 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to West Rowan 76-71. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lake Norman Charter in their matchups with West Rowan: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Lake Norman Charter got a solid performance out of Braden Wilkie, who scored 18 points. Wilkie scored a full 25.4% of Lake Norman Charter's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Braylon Irelan was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to East Rowan, who are still winless after their fourth game. They had to suffer through a rough 104-37 loss at the hands of Central Cabarrus. East Rowan was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 64-17.
Jonathan Wembolua put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points.
East Rowan struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Central Cabarrus racked up 36.
Lake Norman Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for East Rowan, they bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's contest: Lake Norman Charter have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6.8 threes per game. It's a different story for East Rowan, though, as they've been averaging only 4.2 per game. Given Lake Norman Charter's sizeable advantage in that area, East Rowan will need to find a way to close that gap.
