Recap: Opp Bobcats vs. Brantley Bulldogs
The Opp Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 12th straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 66-46 loss at the hands of Brantley. Opp was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Brantley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.
Opp lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alan Jones, who scored 12 points. Jones continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Josh Smith, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Jayden Parks continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Brantley, dropping a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Parks has scored at least 25% of Brantley's points. Daylan Davis was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Opp bumped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Brantley, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Opp won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pike County at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Pike County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 two weeks ago. Brantley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Goshen at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Goshen is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
