Basketball Recap: Marvin Ridge Mavericks vs. Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marvin Ridge). They came out on top against the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers by a score of 68-59 on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 27-27 at the break, but the Mavericks were the better team in the second half.

Marvin Ridge was led to victory by Matthew Rivlin and Fleet Payne. Rivlin went 5-for-8 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks, while Payne shot 67% from the field en route to 22 points and seven boards. Thanks to that strong game, Rivlin now owns an excellent 45.2% field goal percentage. Ethan Wiest also deserves some recognition as he scored his first point of the season.
Charlotte Country Day School lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hunter Blythe, who posted 19 points. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peter Richardson, who had 13 points.
The victory made it two in a row for Marvin Ridge and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Charlotte Country Day School, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
