Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Southwest

Southwest won the last time they faced Coral Reef and things went their way on Thursday too. The Southwest Eagles came out on top against the Coral Reef Barracudas by a score of 10-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Southwest got a great performance from Kaleb Hernandez as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, Hernandez posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ajay Perez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Max Rico was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Southwest pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Coral Reef, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Braddock at 3:30 p.m. on April 1st. As for Coral Reef, they will face off against Killian at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
