Softball Game Preview: Natomas Nighthawks vs. Dixon Rams

Natomas is 0-9 against Dixon since March of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Nighthawks will square off against the Rams at 4:30 p.m. Natomas has given up an average of 21 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Natomas is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Wednesday. They lost 22-0 to Destiny Christian Academy.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Dixon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Rodriguez 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won four in a row.

Dakota Gaball made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over nine innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits. Gaball was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Gaball wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rachael Cayabyab, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Bianca Montano, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Dixon's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Natomas, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.

Natomas might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from Dixon in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Nighthawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
