Basketball Game Preview: Oxford Wildcats vs. Heritage Hawks

If Oxford beats Heritage with 44 points on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Oxford sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-42 win over Yale on Tuesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 45th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Heritage, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They blew past Berkley 63-35 on Tuesday. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 25 points or more this season.

Heritage pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.3 points. As for Oxford, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
