On Saturday, Lowndes faced Creekside in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Lowndes Vikings took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Creekside Seminoles. The Vikings' loss signaled the end of their 13-game winning streak.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aryana Thomas, who went 6 for 13 en route to 19 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaci Demps, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points and five steals.
Even though they lost, Lowndes smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive matchups.

Lowndes will challenge Richmond Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Lowndes is on a 21-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Richmond Hill a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Creekside, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-52 win against Southridge on the 20th.
