The Organ Mountain Knights will face off against the Las Cruces Bulldawgs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Organ Mountain sitting on six straight victories and Las Cruces on three.
While Organ Mountain's win against Alamogordo wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights won by a run and slipped past the Tigers 5-4.
Eric Gomez was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Las Cruces owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Gadsden. That's two games straight that the Bulldawgs have won by exactly two runs.
The result came thanks to Joaquin Pfeiffer's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Las Cruces' win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Gomez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Gomez also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.
Organ Mountain's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Las Cruces, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
Both Organ Mountain and Las Cruces just can't seem to miss. The Knights have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Las Cruces struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Organ Mountain skirted past Las Cruces 6-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldawgs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
