Basketball Game Preview: Page County Panthers vs. Central Woodstock Falcons

The Page County Panthers will take on the Central Woodstock Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Page County: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Central Woodstock has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Page County turned things around against Stonewall Jackson on Friday. They greeted the New Year with with a 66-49 victory over the Generals. That 17 point margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

While Central Woodstock didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Rappahannock County by a score of 49-40 on Friday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Rappahannock County are ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Page County's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Central Woodstock, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.

Page County came up short against Central Woodstock in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 60-54. Can Page County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
