Softball Recap: Lakewood's Losing Streak Snapped at 16 Games

Lakewood can bid farewell to their 16-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. Neither they nor the Lejeune Devil Pups could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 7-7 draw.

Caitlyn Bass spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

Lakewood's tie makes their record 0-5-1 this season. As for Lejeune, they moved theirs to 3-1-1.

Coming up, Lakewood will take on Red Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Red Springs has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18 runs per game on average), something Lakewood will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lejeune, they will square off against North Duplin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lejeune is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.6 runs per game this season.
