Baseball Recap: West Rowan Drops Highest Score of Season Against Northwest Cabarrus

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Rowan). Everything went their way against the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans on Tuesday as they made off with a 21-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Maddox Moore was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March.

In other batting news, West Rowan let Brody Pope and Brice Knox run wild. Pope went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Knox went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those three runs gave Knox a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Blevins, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

West Rowan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

West Rowan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Northwest Cabarrus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.
