Valley View and Valley Center squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Valley View had to settle for second. They took a 30-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Valley View saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Damien Randin picked up 111 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Valley Center's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joeisha Ryan Tirado, who rushed for 128 yards and two scores while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Ryan Tirado is becoming a predictor of the Jaguars' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Jesse Morales did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 121 receiving yards.

Valley View's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Valley Center, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
