Basketball Recap: Gianna Beechy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Eastern over Madison-Grant

Eastern lost against Madison-Grant back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Comets took a 44-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Argylls. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Eastern lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gianna Beechy, who posted 13 points and six rebounds. That was a full 36.1% of Eastern's points, marking the fourth time in a row Beechy has had more than a third of the team's points. Lainey Newlin was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 17 boards.

Eastern's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Madison-Grant, their victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-8.

Eastern and Sheridan will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Madison-Grant will take on Anderson Prep Academy in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
