Basketball Recap: Memphis School of Excellence Winchester Starts off Right with Win over Melrose

Memphis School of Excellence Winchester gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They blew past the Melrose Golden Wildcats 51-26.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Memphis School of Excellence Winchester to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyla Merriweather, who posted 15 points. Those 15 points gave Merriweather a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatianna Woods, who earned 19 points.

Melrose's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Memphis School of Excellence Winchester will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against KIPP Collegiate at 6:00 p.m. on December 2. As for Melrose, they have already played their next contest, a 42-20 victory against Raleigh-Egypt on the 21st.
