Football Recap: Piedmont Wins Going Away Against Irvington

Piedmont's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Irvington Vikings 40-15. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Highlanders considering their seven-point performance the contest before.

It was another big night for Xavier Henderson, who rushed for 108 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing two fumbles. George Saunders made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Piedmont's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Irvington, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Piedmont will challenge rival Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Henderson and Joseph Guerra. Meanwhile, Irvington is set to take on their familiar foe Newark Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
