Basketball Game Preview: Durango Trailblazers vs. Liberty Patriots

The Durango Trailblazers will head out to square off against the Liberty Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Durango is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Durango is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Bishop Gorman, who was ranked second at the time (Durango was ranked 17th). Durango took a 61-47 bruising from Bishop Gorman on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Liberty). They breezed by Spring Valley to the tune of 90-50 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Patriots have posted since December 9, 2023.

Liberty's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-9. As for Durango, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Durango came up short against Liberty in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 65-52. Can Durango avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
