Softball Game Preview: Denbigh Patriots vs. Manor Mustangs

The Denbigh Patriots will challenge the Manor Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Denbigh is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Denbigh will bounce into Monday's game after beating Phoebus, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Denbigh came out on top against Phoebus by a score of 8-3 on Thursday.

Syniah-Ali Benton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up seven Ks. That one hit allowed gave her a new career-low.

At the plate, Alieyah Bullock was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimani Grady, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Meanwhile, Manor kicked off their season last Wednesday but they'll have to wait until their next contest for a more definitive result. They and King's Fork finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 tie.

Denbigh's win bumped their record up to 3-0. Manor's draw makes their record 0-0-1 this season.

Denbigh suffered a grim 25-4 defeat to Manor in their previous meeting back in March of 2018. Can Denbigh avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
