Baseball Recap: Heyworth Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

It's playoff time, and Heyworth had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Roanoke-Benson/Lowpoint-Washburn Rockets 8-0 on Saturday. Considering the Hornets have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Heyworth got a great performance from Carter Brooks as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 6.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Brooks has posted since back in April.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Law, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Maddox Klawitter was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Heyworth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive matches.

Heyworth pushed their record up to 23-14 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Roanoke-Benson/Lowpoint-Washburn, their loss dropped their record down to 21-11.

As of now, neither Heyworth nor the Rockets have any future games scheduled.
