Basketball Recap: Romeoville Comes Up Short

Romeoville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell 54-46 to the Plainfield East Bengals. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bengals earlier this season, when they won 53-47.

When it comes to explaining why Romeoville lost, don't look at Kazaria Smith. Despite the final result, she posted 25 points. That was a full 54.3% of Romeoville's points, marking the 25th time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Harris, who put up 12 points.

Romeoville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Plainfield East, they moved to 4-21 with that victory, which also ended their ten-game losing streak.

Romeoville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 56-45 loss against Plainfield Central on the 4th. Plainfield East has also already played their next contest, a 53-44 defeat against Joliet Central on the 4th.
