Volleyball Recap: Tough Loss for Horizon

The Horizon Scorpions lost 3-0 to the Bel Air Highlanders on Friday. The Scorpions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-16.

Leading Bel Air to victory were Amanda Velez and Judith Faulkner. Velez had 17 kills, five digs, and three aces, while Faulkner had 15 assists, seven kills, four digs, and three aces. Mia Nathan was another key player, getting eight digs and two aces.

Horizon has now lost six of their last eight games on the road. That leaves them at a 4-8 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-0 El Dorado and 4-0 Hanks (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.8% over those games). As for Bel Air, they have been on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That run has powered them to a 13-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horizon is on the road again on Tuesday to play El Paso at 6:35 p.m. This will be the Scorpions' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Bel Air, they will head out to challenge Americas at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will also give the Highlanders their first taste of in-conference action this season.
