Basketball Preview: Caston Comets vs. South Newton Rebels
The Caston Comets's road trip will continue as they head out to face the South Newton Rebels at 7:45 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Caston focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Caston had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They blew past the Trojans 62-37. Caston has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 20 points or more this season.
Caston relied on the efforts of Isabel Scales, who scored 12 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, and Addison Zimpleman, who scored 24 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Scales has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madisyn Douglass, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, South Newton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Thursday after their ninth straight defeat. They fell to North Newton 42-38.
Caston's win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for South Newton, their loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16.
Caston skirted past the Rebels 38-36 in their previous matchup back in January of 2015. Does Caston have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
