Basketball Game Preview: Seneca Fighting Irish vs. Herscher Tigers

The Seneca Fighting Irish will face off against the Herscher Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Seneca is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Lexington just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 52-44 to the Minutemen.

Herscher hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top against Momence by a score of 50-37 on Saturday. That looming 50-37 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

Seneca better keep an eye on Jacob Mccree. He was instrumental in Herscher's win, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Mccree's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Austin Buckley, who posted ten points and four steals.

Herscher smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Seneca's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Herscher, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.

Everything went Seneca's way against Herscher in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, as Seneca made off with a 55-29 win. Will Seneca repeat their success, or does Herscher have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
