Recap: Riverview Pirates vs. Jefferson Bears

The Riverview Pirates entered their tilt with the Jefferson Bears with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Riverview took down Jefferson 59-43 on Monday. Given Riverview's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Jefferson is ranked 510th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Riverview found their leader in underclassman Keira Logan, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Logan scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Poe, who scored 14 points along with four steals.

Riverview's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Jefferson, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverview on the road again on Friday and play against Flat Rock at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. As for Jefferson, they will square off against St. Mary Catholic Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
