Baseball Recap: Niles North Takes a Loss

Niles North fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Niles West on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Vikings have lost by just one run.

Lucas Brown was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off four hits. Brown was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season.

Brown wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Engstrom, who went 4-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Nico Vasquez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Niles North now has a losing record of 8-9-1. As for Niles West, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-11.

While Niles North had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
