Softball Game Preview: Lee Williams Volunteers vs. Coconino Panthers

Lee Williams is 1-9 against Coconino since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lee Williams Volunteers will head out on the road to take on the Coconino Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lee Williams is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Dysart with a sharp 24-1 victory on Monday. The Volunteers haven't had any issues with the Demons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Aivree Austin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Austin was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Sami Marshall was a standout: she scored four runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Vanessa Whiterock was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Lee Williams kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, while Coconino put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Ironwood Ridge. Everything went Coconino's way against Ironwood Ridge as Coconino made off with an 8-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Lee Williams' record is now 3-6. As for Coconino, their record now sits at 7-4.

Lee Williams couldn't quite finish off Coconino in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can Lee Williams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
