Softball Preview: Concordia Fighting Orioles vs. Kingsville Tigers

The Concordia Fighting Orioles will head out on the road to take on the Kingsville Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Concordia is looking to tack on another W to their 12-game streak on the road dating back to last season.

Last Thursday, Concordia was able to grind out a solid victory over Crest Ridge, taking the game 7-3.

Olivia Hemme was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Hemme has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Hemme was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Addison Roepe was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, a stolen base, and a run. Another player making a difference was Kiya Inman, who went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.

Meanwhile, Kingsville can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game back in March. They were the clear victor by a 10-4 margin over Midway. That's two games straight that Kingsville has won by exactly six runs.

Concordia's record is now 9-2. As for Kingsville, their record now sits at 5-1.

Everything went Concordia's way against Kingsville when the teams last played back in May of 2023 as Concordia made off with a 14-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Concordia since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
