Basketball Recap: SEED DC Drops Season-High Score on BASIS

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask SEED DC). They took down the BASIS Red Giants 84-66 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but SEED DC sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

SEED DC's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kevin Oates led the charge by going 9 for 13 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Terry Hutchinson, who went 9 of 18 en route to 22 points and four steals.

Oates wasn't the only one working in the assists department: SEED DC was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, BASIS still got an impressive performance from Timothy Chamberlain II, who posted 38 points. Chamberlain II's evening made it 28 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jayson Parker, who scored nine points.

SEED DC has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points per game. As for BASIS, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

SEED DC didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-51 loss against Dunbar on the 23rd. BASIS has also already played their next game, a 66-63 defeat against Model Secondary School for the Deaf on the 22nd.
