Basketball Recap: Samuel Gillaspy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Alhambra over Acalanes

Alhambra was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Acalanes Dons. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 485th, while the Dons are ranked 104th).

Alhambra lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Samuel Gillaspy, who went 6 of 15 en route to 17 points. Torrance Avery was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

Alhambra's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Acalanes, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Alhambra wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-42 victory against Berean Christian on the 24th. Acalanes has also already played their next matchup, a 57-37 defeat against Campolindo on the 24th.
