Basketball Recap: Early County Falls Despite Big Games from Aniyah Wilson and Aubry Thomas

Early County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Mitchell County Eagles, falling 59-33. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 40-34 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Early County's loss came despite strong showings from Aubry Thomas and Aniyah Wilson. Thomas posted five points and six boards, while Wilson earned a point.

Mitchell County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamilah Washington out in front who had 16 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tytionna Draggs, who shot 45% from the field on her way to 12 points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Early County's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Early County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-30 defeat against Troup County on the 28th. As for Mitchell County, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pataula Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on the 2nd.
