Football Preview: Jesuit Tigers vs. University Titans

The Jesuit Tigers will take on the University Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Jesuit's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while University has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Jesuit's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They claimed a resounding 31-0 victory over Cardinal Newman. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 31 points or more this season.

Jesuit can attribute much of their success to Hezekiah Davis, who rushed for 141 yards and one TD on only ten carries, and Will Griffin, who threw for 201 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Davis really tore up the turf during one magnificent 97-yard run. 82 of Griffin's passing yards were hauled in by Kaleb Smith, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Jesuit was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 207 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Jesuit didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kam Housey and King Powell. Powell has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last four times he's played. Rashaun Fitts Jr. was another major factor on D, making 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defending one pass.

Meanwhile, University played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 38-7 loss at the hands of Flagler Palm Coast. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.

Jesuit's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for University, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Jesuit couldn't quite finish off University in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 and fell 35-33.
