Baseball Recap: El Monte Comes Up Short

El Monte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 34th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gabrielino Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 on April 4th.

El Monte saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Standley, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Ricardo Valdez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

El Monte's record is now 0-16. As for Gabrielino, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-9-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. El Monte is set to take on their familiar foe Rosemead at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Gabrielino will square off against rival Mountain View at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
