Baseball Game Preview: Vanden Vikings vs. Roseville Tigers

The Vanden Vikings will take on the Roseville Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Vanden earned an 8-3 win over Woodland Christian.

Jackson Armstrong was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Cahalan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Roseville narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Rocklin 2-1.

Dustin Holcomb looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Roseville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Vicente lll, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

The win got Roseville back to even at 1-1. As for Vanden, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Everything went Vanden's way against Roseville in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, as Vanden made off with a 12-2 victory. Does Vanden have another victory up their sleeve, or will Roseville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
