Basketball Recap: Chaparral's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

Chaparral's tournament run continued when they took on McNeil on Friday. The Chaparral Bobcats wrapped up 2024 with a 39-21 win over the McNeil Mavericks. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Mavericks are ranked 920th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chaparral has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for McNeil, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Chaparral and Cedar Park will face off at 12:05 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Cedar Park will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Chaparral surely won't give up without a fight. As for McNeil, they will head out on the road to square off against Cedar Ridge at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
