Basketball Preview: Verdugo Hills Dons vs. Santa Paula Cardinals
Having just played yesterday, the Verdugo Hills Dons will jump right back in to play the Santa Paula Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Verdugo Hills is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Village Christian just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They received a blow as they fell 57-38 to the Crusaders. The contest marked the Dons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Nicole Olivera, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 10 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayleen Castanos, who posted eight points in addition to five boards and three steals.
Meanwhile, Santa Paula posted their biggest win since December 5th on Friday. They breezed by Fillmore to the tune of 54-13. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.
