The South Central Trojans will be playing at home against the St. Paul Flyers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Central has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28.
South Central pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 76-56 walloping at the hands of Seneca East. While losing is never fun, South Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 804th, while the Tigers are ranked 224th).
Despite the loss, South Central had strong showings from Gunner Ray, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Weston June, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points June has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bryan Chaffee, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, St. Paul strolled past the Crimson Streaks with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 65-49. The victory made it back-to-back wins for St. Paul.
South Central's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for St. Paul, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
South Central suffered a grim 75-50 defeat to the Flyers in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point South Central was down 45-20.
