Lake Washington had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Newport - Bellevue Knights 38-7. The Kangaroos haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Ronin Holmes had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 180 yards and four scores while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lake Washington's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Adrian Ceniceros, Micah Thomas, and Lucas Paixao, who each picked up one sack apiece. Ceniceros was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making six total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defending one pass.
Coming up, Lake Washington will head out on the road to square off against Jackson at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Newport - Bellevue, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sammamish at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
