Baseball Recap: St. Bernard Extends Home Winning Streak to 13

St. Bernard never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They came out on top against the St. Monica Mariners by a score of 3-0. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

The result came thanks to Juan Sandoval's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Royce McKenzie, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Chris Amador was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

St. Bernard pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for St. Monica, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-12.

St. Bernard will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mariners: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
