Football Recap: Douglas Byrd Starts Season with Defeat on the Road + How To Watch

Douglas Byrd kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were outmatched by the Cape Fear Colts and fell 42-0. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Colts recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cape Fear to victory, but perhaps none more so than Geronimo Sanchez, who rushed for 65 yards and one score, and also threw for 71 yards and a pair of TDs. Jason Nelson was another key rusher, rushing for 85 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Douglas Byrd will head out to challenge Western Harnett at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cape Fear, they will venture away from home to face off against Seventy-First at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
