Football Recap: Lecanto Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Citrus

Lecanto put their dominant defense on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let the Citrus Hurricanes get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Hurricanes are ranked 33rd).

Lecanto's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Citrus, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lecanto will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Crystal River at 7:45 p.m. on April 1st. Citrus will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Hernando at 7:15 p.m. on March 31st.
